Its your boy Absolute Zero, Defender of the Universe, and I’m back to talk about Kooley4rmTheAve. I first met this artist at the Hip-Hop For Flint Charity Concert. That night I saw Kooley come in and perform a very live set. Kooley came in and delivered really dope bars over amazing beats. He was really energetic in his performance and his songs sounded really good. His performance was tight and really got me interested in his music.
When I made it around to checking Kooley’s soundcloud, I was very impressed with what I found there. The only problem I have with Kooley’s soundcloud is, that he only has two songs. This appears to be all the music Kooley has released so far. I can’t hold this against Kooley too much because the two songs he does have uploaded are amazing.
The first song I heard from Kooley is a song called “High Love”. Here we see Kooley delivering a heavily autotuned rap verse. I don’t listen to a lot of autotune music, but Kooley pulls it off so well the song just flows. The song features a smooth female vocal feature on the hook. This just flows so nicely together with the vibe of the track. The beat is very smooth featuring nice layered synths over super smooth vocal harmonies. The sound bed for the song is so full and nice that the song is a joy to listen too. The song just sounds so good.
The verse from Kooley sounds really nice over the beat. I don’t think Kooley shows any lyrical assassin skills on this track, but I don’t really think the song needs it. Kooley just keeps it smooth an rides right in the pocket of the beat. This makes this a perfect song to just sit back, and chill with.
The female vocalist on this track ,who’s name isn’t credited anywhere from what I can tell, gave an amazing vocal performance on this song. Her vocals are smooth and soothing. She is able to deliver nice full sounding vocals which fill the space in the song wonderfully. The chorus of the song just exudes quality. It sounds good, its mixed well, and it fits the beat perfectly. The hook reminds me of “ Kush and Orange ” Juice era Wiz Khalifa, but listening too the songs next too each other. I think that this song sounds better than what Wiz was at the time. I can’t emphasis enough how clean and nice this chorus is. It makes the song too me.
“High Love” is a nice song, but I liked the next song even better. “Smokin’ Golden” is definitely the song to listen too from Kooley. This track ended his live set, for good reason. The track is fire. It definitely feels like cloud rap. The track gives me a similar feeling to something like “Long Live A$AP” from A$AP Rocky. The track is super atmospheric and incorporates some low, pitch shifted vocals . The beat is very cleanly mixed and sounds really infectious. This is a smoke track, Kooley is talking about how he “only smokes golden”. He is so smooth and packs in so much charisma he makes the track interesting. At this point rap has heard a lot of smoke tracks. Kooley makes the subject sound fresh with he passionate he brings on the track.
I really enjoyed all of Kooley’s Music. Even though he doesn’t have as much music as I would like, I’m going to keep a close eye on him for his upcoming releases. Check out his music for yourself. I guardsmen your going to enjoy it.
